Just in case you haven’t heard, the West Coast is the place to be this summer. Both TV 1 news and NIWA
(National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research) have been attributing this to La Nina – read more about why you want to be here this summer!
The white herons are raising more chicks than usual with perfect breeding conditions and plenty of food in the Okarito Lagoon. The banded dotterels have had a great season of successful hatches, with some on their second round. The caspian and white fronted terns have been seen in a frenzy of fishing alongside the boat – amazing to watch as they plummet straight into the water!
Hope to see you here in the sunshine this summer – we have accommodation available in cottages or the community campground – for more information please contact us or visit our accommodation page on this website.
